A journalist, identified as Olubunmi Afuye and two others were on Thursday killed in a bank robbery in Ondo State.
According to reports, the bank robbery that left Olubunmi Afuye and two other persons dead, happened at Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore local government area of Ondo State.
The spokesman of the state police command, Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident to journalists in Akure, said the other two victims were a policeman and motorcyclist.
Olubunmi Afuye was recently appointed the Public Relations Officer of a private university in the town.
The deceased also worked with the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) and Orange FM before he resigned recently to join the university.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers, whose operation at a commercial bank in the town, lasted hours escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
Since the sad news of his death, friends and other family members have taken to their social media accounts to share their thoughts on the sad incident.
One of those who have reacted to the incident is a cousin of the journalist, Olubayode Afuye, who simply wrote this message on his social media page:
“The news of you death brought tears out of my eyes,
Your sun set too soon.
You are a cousin to me but never see you as a cousin neither did you see me as a cousin rather as a brother, you the the closest person to me in the family.
I called you few days ago when my heart was just going towards your direction and we spoke for minutes, not knowing that will be the last time i would ever have to hear your voice.
It really saddened my heart to bid you good bye till we meet in eternity. My brother, my friend,my earthly councilor.
