159 New Cases Of COVID-19 Recorded By NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has reported 159 new cases of the deadly coronavirus across some states in the federation.

The NCDC in a statement on their official social media page on Thursday 15th July 2021, while updating Nigerians on the latest development on the COVID-19 trends in the country, stated that the country recorded a total of 159 new cases of the virus on this date.

The 159 new cases according to NCDC, were recorded in 8 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with Lagos having the highest number of new cases.

The data for Lagos state as reported by the NCDC, were the delayed data for cases recorded on Wednesday 14th July 2021, that were not included in their daily report on Wednesday by the agency.

The 159 new cases as published by the NCDC shows the following distribution according to states:

Lagos-119
Akwa Ibom-19
Rivers-11
Ogun-5
Ekiti-2
FCT-1
Delta-1
Kwara-1

The new cases now bring the total confirmed cases so far in the country since the outbreak of the virus to 169,074 with a total number of 164,652 patients discharged so far, and 2,126 deaths.


Also, the agency added that Thursday’s report shows six states with zero cases which are Plateau, Sokoto, Kano, Oyo Ondo and Kaduna.
