Spanish striker Alvaro Morata who was a hero in the normal time for Spain in their Semi-final game against Italy in the ongoing Euro, became somewhat a villain after extra time when he missed a spot-kick that saw Spain crashing out of the Euro 2020 competition, has reacted to the result.

Striker Alvaro Morata who has been brilliant for Spain in this tournament is also someone who has had it rough and tough with some fans. But taking to his official social media handle immediately after their exit from the Euro 2020 competition on Tuesday 6th July 2021, said Spain deserved ‘much more.’

After 120 minutes of enthralling action, the European heavyweights could not be separated with the contest going to a penalty shootout.
Having come off the bench to level the contest in normal time, Morata saw his effort saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho then stepped up to coolly roll home the winning spot-kick to send the Azzurri into Sunday’s final when they will take on England or Denmark.

Writing on Instagram, Morata said: ‘This group deserved more, much more.

‘Like the whole of Spain, it was also my dream, our dream.
‘I am proud to have been part of this team. To those who have believed in us, THANK YOU.
‘Football can be very hard.’

The Spain head coach Enrique while reacting to the result said: “He has an abductor issue. It says a lot about his personality that, despite that, he wanted to take a penalty.

“He has gone through some tough times during this competition but he was brilliant, he created a lot of uncertainty in the Italian ranks, he scored, he was excellent. I haven’t been able to see him because he went to doping control but I will go and see him now.”
