Stray Bullet Hits And Kills Girl At Yoruba Nation Rally

A stray bullet is said to have hit and killed a young lady in Lagos on Saturday afternoon. The sad incident is reported to have happened after Police fired bullets at angry protesters in Ojota, Lagos State.

The situation has brought tension in the area as the protesters are currently scampering for safety.

The protest, which started with singing and chanting, got rowdy as security operatives shot in the air, and also teargassed protesters.

The lifeless body of the girl which was hit by a stray bullet was crowded by sympathisers at the scene.

She died at the scene. Reports said the victim was not involved in the disturbance.

A video posted on social media shows the girl’s body covered with a veil lying on the ground in blood.

The girl was said to have been hit and killed by a stray bullet while she was shopping at a shop.

The Lagos State Police Command used water cannons to disperse anti-government protesters.

The protest took place in Ojota, where protesters gathered carrying placards in support of secession from Nigeria.

The DSS on Thursday said its officers raided the residence of protest leader Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The agency said it sent its officers as a result of intelligence reports that he had amassed weapons in the house, saying it had killed three of his armed men and arrested others as well as weapons found in the house.

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Saturday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

Police visited the scene of the incident and took her dead body away.
