As the 2019 general elections draws near, political parties in the country are looking at the best possible way they can to see their parties triumph in the next elections. The All Progressive Congress which won majority of votes in the last general elections (2015) especially the presidency, are not leaving anything to chance, as stakeholders of the party met with the President at the Aso Villa, to mend fences.
The ruling party, APC, with some bruised ego and some members attempting what can be tagged a political Tsunami, just realized there is a crack in the party, when in actual sense, the party itself, arrived Abuja in 2015, with a gamut of crisis. From the Politicians from Southern Nigeria to Northern Nigeria everybody want to be in control even with a chairman in their various ward and States, no to even talk of the Governor.
Some of these politicians constituting nuisance to the party, before APC, were already drowning in their previous parties, they have suddenly found their voices again, after riding on the ‘goodwill’ of Buhari to power. They became selfish, wanting to control a system that they did not contribute to its foundation and this has led to conflict of interest in most APC controlled States, as Politicians fight for control of the party at the state level with old and new members…examples are bound…
The party became to me, second PDP, as rather than the old members of ACN, CPC and ANPP who did the initial merger, controlling and dictating the pace of the party, it is those that decamped from PDP to join the party that are now the ones now controlling the party. In fact, they have become more powerful than the once famous Jagaban himself, as his authority are being challenged right-left and centre. Imagine a Jagaban being asked to go round members for a possible reconciliation….when they know the actual problem…
The only way APC can move forward as a political party, is to get back the party from those who have hijacked the party from the original members and those who mean well for Nigerians, and not some vultures who only joined the party through the back doors, for their own selfish interest….Nigerians deserves better!
