Twitter Africa headquarters is to be sited in Ghana, as founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jack Dorsey confirmed in breaking news tweet on his official handle on Monday 12th April 2021.
The statement released by the social media App. stated reasons they have decided to site the Twitter Africa headquarters in Ghana and not Nigeria, South Africa or any other African country.
Nigeria has the highest presence on the social media platform (34million users) which is more than the total population of Ghana and South Africa has a well-developed infrastructure. But Twitter are saying that, unlike these other countries, Ghana have championed democracy, and they are also a supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the Open Internet, of which Twitter is also an advocate.

“Twitter’s mission is to serve the public conversation, and it’s essential, for the world and for Twitter, to increase the number of people who feel comfortable participating in it. To do this, we need to make it easier for everyone to join in and provide more relevant experiences for people across the world.
