Sunday Igboho escapes an attempt to abduct him to Abuja by over 40 Security operatives made up of the Department of State Service (DSS), soldiers and some Policemen along the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday afternoon.
Sunday Igboho escapes abduction while on his way to see Afenifere chieftain, Pa Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos.
A viral video shared from the official social media handle of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode showed a shirtless Igboho and his supporters challenging the security operatives numbering about 40 who were allegedly sent to abduct him to Abuja.
While confirming the attempted abduction of Sunday Igboho, Chief Femi Fani Kayode, said:
“I just spoke to my brother Sunday Igboho. He told me there was a violent attempt to arrest him this afternoon by a joint team of soldiers, DSS operatives & policemen numbering about 40 on the Ibadan/Lagos Expressway whilst he was on his way to see Baba Ayo Adebanjo in Lagos.
Statting further, he condemned the actions, calling for restraint from all sides, saying:
“I condemn this attempt to ambush& abduct him. It is not only reckless but also very dangerous. If the security agencies want to see him all they need to do is to invite him to their office. I am not aware of any crime that he has committed & I urge restraint on all sides.
Let me also send a warning to the FG that Sunday Igboho is a hero to millions of Yorubas & either killing him or detaining him unlawfully would be the biggest mistake they could make. Building bridges, dialogue and peace is better than violence & war.A word is enough for the wise,” he added.
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu had ordered his arrest for inciting the populace against the Fulani herdsmen.
No official statement yet from Sunday himself and the Police to confirm this latest development.
