The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Warri South in the forthcoming Delta state Local Government elections, Dr Michael Tidi has promised to do more and surpass his first term achievements when he takes over office for a second term. He said this in Asaba the state capital, which was the venue for flag presentation for candidates under the party.
Dr Tidi who is the only chairman with a PhD out of the 25 local government chairman candidates for the election, also used the opportunity to thank Governor Okowa, Warri South party delegates, and the entire people of Warri South for the opportunity given to him to serve them for a second time.
While speaking immediately after his flag presentation, Dr Tidi Michael, said “I am grateful to our great party Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria for the Flag and platform.
We have an opportunity to move Warri forward together when we hinge on the Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s Stronger Delta Agenda and key legacies of peace and development established in our previous tenure.
As we get used to the new normals of Covid-19 and sell our proposal to Wafarians for the next tenure, let the campaigns be peaceful and bring us hope for a better Warri,”
When asked about his plans for his second coming, the immediate past chairman of Warri-South, said he will improve the living condition of the people, especially women and children. He said he will do this through adequate funding of the Small and Media Scale Enterprises, and also address squarely the security challenges that have been bedeviling the city of Warri.
He also promised that he will continue to carry everyone along as no one will be left behind, and also take developmental strides to all areas of Warri-South with the Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s Stronger Delta Agenda and key legacies of peace and development established in his previous tenure.
Here are some of the achievements of Dr Tidi’s administration in his first term:
In Peace and Security:
Apart from refurbishing patrol vans and assisting Security agencies in the council area with intelligence and other forms of logistics, the administration, have continued to provide a veritable platform for security agencies and community leaders collaborate in ensuring sustained Peace and Security within the local government.
Primary Health Care:
To guarantee effective primary healthcare delivery, the administration has renovated some health centres and upgraded others to Cottage Hospital through Private Sector support as evident in the Ogiame Ikenwoli Hospital Ubeji, a legacy Project constructed by Matrix Energy Limited through concerted efforts of the Tidi’s Administration and the continuous provision of healthcare facilities as well as trained personnel at the health centres in the LGA
Agricultural Development:
While plans are still ongoing for the development of a 1,000 hectares Palm Oil Farm in one of the coastal areas of Warri South, in collaboration with the private sector, the Tidi administration donated fishing boats and accessories to some cooperative organizations to boost Aquaculture in the council area.
Other achievements include:
Installation of C.C.T.V Camera and Light-fittings at the Warri South Council Main Secretariat, Warri
Refurbishing of Patrol Van for the Police at ‘A’ Division, Warri.
Expansive/Daily Environmental Sanitation activities on both Warri City Centre and the Riverine Areas of the LGA.
Committing huge resources on Peace Building and Engagement with Security Agencies in the LGA
Servicing traditional institutions in the LGA via robust engagement
Historic takeover of Ogbe-ljoh Market Warri, after several years of business activities in the market premises.
Procurement of Waste Disposal Truck
Payment of inherited staff salary arrears of several months.
Ensuring adequate provision of drugs and utilities to health centres within the LGA.
Donations to inmates of Nigeria Correctional Centre Warri, to enhance their welfare.
Skills’ acquisition training for youths/promotion of adult education.
Carrying out palliative measures on sections of failed roads in Warri.
