Paul Patrick Quinn VFX Executive Dies At 63

Paul Patrick Quinn, a veteran visual effects producer and head of Barnstorm VFX Vancouver who contributed to several Marvel movies and TV shows ranging from The X-Files to Big Sky, has died. He was 63.

Paul Patrick Quinn, according to the report by Hollywoodreporter which quoted a company spokesperson, said he died “suddenly and unexpectedly” on Jan. 3 at his home in Vancouver.

The cause of death is unknown.

Two and a half years ago, Paul Pattrick Quinn landed at Barnstorm VFX as VFX executive producer and general manager, tasked with opening a Vancouver office. Within months, the firm was hired for such TV shows as Get ShortyProject Blue BookAnother LifeThe OrderBig SkySuperman and Lois and A League of Their Own.

Quinn’s career took off in the 1990s when he worked on such series as The X-Files (from 1993-97), American GothicM.A.N.T.I.S. and The Crow: Stairway to Heaven and on films including Spawn (1997).

The Toronto native’s credits also included 3000 Miles to Graceland (2001), I, Robot (2004), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Black Panther (2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).

Before joining Barnstorm, he was employed at MPC, Method Studios and DNEG.

Survivors include his parents, Hilda and Patrick; daughters Nicole and Katherine; son-in-law Weldon; and grandchildren Cadence and Avaya.
