Singer-Songwriter, Sia has just announced that she is dropping a remix of her song ‘Hey Boy’, featuring multiple award winning Afrobeat legend, Burna Boy.
Sia who seems to be joining other singers to sample the Afrobeat music genre, said her song ‘Hey Boy’ and the video will be dropping on Thursday. She shared a cartoon image of Burna Boy and herself on her social media handle while announcing on Tuesday. She captioned the post simply with “Pucker up”
The 45-year-old Sia, who is a legendary singer and song writer, whose abilities to deliver any time is never in doubt, this, if we are not mistaken, will be her first touch and feel of the Afrobeat genre, and a feature with Burna Boy, definitely means it is a banger already!
The original song is set to appear on Sia’s forthcoming album ‘Music’, due out February 12, which was written to accompany her new film of the same name.
‘Hey Boy’ was initially released back in November of last year, and was preceded by other singles ‘Together‘ and ‘Saved My Life‘, co-written with Dua Lipa.
‘Music’, the film, is set to be released in cinemas around the world throughout January and February, and is directed, produced and written by Sia herself.
It’s set to star Kate Hudson, Leslie Odom Jr. and Maddie Ziegler, a casting choice Sia has come under fire for. Ziegler, who is able bodied and neurotypical, is set to portray an autistic teenager, which drew criticism from people across the internet.
Autism rights activists even started a petition in an effort to get the release of the film cancelled.
Sia initially defended her decision, stressing that she thought it was unfair for people to criticise the film without seeing it. However, she later doubled back, admitting that she “should have just shut up” and said the casting of Ziegler was “nepotism”
