NCDC Reports 1244 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 1244 new cases of the dreaded coronavirus.

The NCDC in its daily updates on Monday 11th January 2021, reported on its official social media handle that a total of 1244 new cases of the virus were recorded across the country. The figures which show that the spread of the virus is not slowing down, has Lagos state with the highest number of cases, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the update, the 1244 new cases of the COVID-19, were recorded in 18 states of the federation, including the FCT. The distribution of the 1244 new cases as reported from each state, shows the following:

The report from NCDC, also showed that a total of 101,331 cases have so far been confirmed, with 80,491 discharged patients and 1,361 deaths recorded as at Monday 11th January 2021.

At the Presidential Task Force for COVID19 press briefing on Monday, NCDC Director-General Chikwe urged Nigerians to #TakeResponsibility as #COVID19 cases continue to rise. “With over 100,000 lives now affected & over 1,300 deaths recorded within 11 months in Nigeria, we are reminded of the stark reality we live in”

“We advise Nigerians to remain aware of the risk of #COVID19 & #TakeResponsibility to limit spread. 100,000 cases are not just numbers, the deaths recorded are people we must mourn. Health workers need to maintain a HIGHER index of suspicion at all times”

“To further increase access to #COVID19 testing, we would roll out rapid diagnostic test kits in five health facilities in the FCT, & will scale to other states from February this year”
