Gov Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state, has gone into isolation after coming in contact with unnamed person said to have tested positive to coronavirus.
Gov Aminu Tambuwal according to the report from Sokoto State, has since handed over to his deputy until he completes the mandatory isolation periods.
The government of Sokoto in a short statement released on the official Twitter handle of the governor on Friday 18th December 2020, tweeted saying:
“Governor Tambuwal goes into isolation after coming in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid-19. The Deputy Gov will oversee all activities of the state pending the outcome of the test result of the Governor,” the statement said.
The statement comes a few hours after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 1145 new cases of the COVID-19 in Nigeria on Thursday.
The NCDC in their daily update, reported that the new 1145 new cases were reported across 24 states of the federation, with Lagos recording the highest number of positive cases. The new cases recorded according to the 24 states are:
