The Governor of Katsina state, Governor Aminu Bello Masari has on Monday, briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the recent attack on Government Science Secondary School in Katsina. The attack saw the bandits abducting some numbers of school children from the school.
According to the statement released on Monday 14th December 2020, by the Presidency on their official Twitter handle, President Muhammadu Buhari who coincidentally is in Duara, Katsina State, on a private visit, received the Katsina State Governor at his residence.
The statement by the Presidency reads:
“President @MBuhari received a briefing from Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari over the recent attack at Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State,” the statement said.
Governor Masari in a short statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, was quoted to have told the President that:
““We are making progress and the outlook is positive,’’ the Governor was reported to have told newsmen after an hour meeting with the President, which started at 2pm.
Garba Shehu had earlier said some of the returning Secondary students debriefed by the military disclosed that 10 of their colleagues were taken by the bandits. “As I said to the BBC, that still needed to be verified.
Of course this is different from saying that all the others had been been accounted for. The forests and neighboring villages are being searched and parents are being contacted for information about their children,” he added.
