Ebonyi NASS Caucus Pledge Their Loyalty To PDP Disown Umahi 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed the defection of Governor Umahi of Ebonyi from the party to the ruling party of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that the Governor left for his reasons.

According to the statement released on the official Twitter handle of the PDP on Tuesday 17th November 2020, by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said the PDP Youth leader had said that: “the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, left our party for personal reasons, which Nigerians will come to know at the fullness of time,” he said.

The statement also wished the well on his adventure to the APC, where they stated further that:

“Our party thanks Governor Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi state, as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP (2003 to 2007); deputy governor of Ebonyi state (2007 to 2015) and two-term governor of Ebonyi (2015 till date), all elected on the platform of the PDP.

As we wish Governor Umahi all the best in his adventure, we call on members of our party to remain calm and committed to the ideas as no individual is bigger than the PDP,” Mr Kola stated.

The defection of Governor Umahi was confirmed on Tuesday, after weeks of speculations that he was going to dump the PDP for the APC, for reasons yet to be made public.
