Derin Phillips who is famously known as Dr Caise, has taken to his social media handle, to post a tribute message to his grandfather, and late multi-millionaire, Chief Deinde Fernandez, who died five years ago.
DJ Caise whose mother is Chief (Mrs.) Teju Phillips, former Commissioner for Special Duties in Lagos and daughter of late Cheif Deinde Fernandez, taking to his social media page on Tuesday, posted a throwback photo of grandfather, with a caption telling a story his great-grandfather. He said:
“My Grandfather used to tell me stories of how his father, my great grandfather, had a radio which was a rare commodity back in those days. And he would play this radio so loud that his neighbors would get jealous ; 😂 5 yrs ago you left to join your ancestors,” he said.
He continued by adding that:
“Your absence in this world has truly been felt. May you continue to Rest In Perfect Peace. Salute to The Late Great Deinde Fernandez View all 10 comments zaddyslim 👏👏👏,” he said about the late international businessman, Chief Deinde Fernandez.
Fernandez died at the age of 78 over five years ago, in a private hospital in Brussels, Belgium after battling with an undisclosed illness for several months. He died in the presence of his wife, Halima Maude Fernandez.
Fernandez was one of Nigeria’s most reclusive and mysterious moneybags. The intensely private Nigerian diplomat formerly served as the Central African Republic’s ambassador to the United Nations. Between 1982 and 1984 he served as advisor to the Angolan government on economic matters. He was subsequently appointed as deputy permanent representative of Mozambique in the United Nations in 1984. Between 1992 and 1995 he served as a special adviser to the President of Mozambique on International Economic Matters.
Ambassador Fernandez is survived by 9 children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
