Arsenal are Community Shield champions for the 16th time, after beating Premier League Champions, Liverpool 5-4 on penalties on Saturday.
Arsenal are winning the Community Shield at the Wimbley stadium after they won the FA Cup at the same stadium some weeks back against Chelsea.
Superb Aubameyang strike early in the first half of the game put Arsenal ahead before Minamino equalised for Liverpool with a composed low finish in the second half to level the game at 1-1. It went down to penalties after the normal 90 minutes and added time, and it was Arsenal that came out victorious to clinch the 2020 Community Shield.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, while speaking on the win, said:“I’m so happy. I knew the challenge we were facing today. Thank you to the players for the effort and the performance.
“The courage of the team [was the most pleasing thing], how aggressive we were without the ball and to break the pressure of Liverpool. I knew in the second half we would suffer.
“This generates belief, to be able to compete against a team like this in a final makes me happy.”
On Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: “Big games, big moments, big players. He has responded really well to that kind of pressure. He was magnificent in the FA Cup final and the same today.”
