Dean Henderson Signs A New Contract With Manchester United

Manchester United on loan goalkeeper, Dean Henderson has been given a new six-year contract worth £120,000-per-week, as he rejoins the club from Sheffield United.

Dean Henderson who had a fantastic season in the just concluded English Premier League season with Sheffield United, is returning to Old Trafford with the hope of taking over the number spot from David De Gea.

The 23-year-old Dean Henderson whose new contract was confirmed by Manchester United on Wednesday 26th August 2020, has been in training at Carrington ahead of his call-up to the England squad on Tuesday.

The new long-term deal according to Manchester United, was to reward his progress after a stand-out season on loan at Sheffield United and tie him down to the club until June 2025 with the option for a further year

Dean Henderson while speaking on his new improved long-term contract, had this to say:

‘The pathway that I have been on for the past five years has been fantastic for my development and the invaluable loan period at Sheffield United has been part of that.

‘The goalkeeping department at United is excellent; there are three top-level goalkeepers who have achieved so much in the game and I look forward to working with the group.

The faith that the manager and the club have shown in me with this contract means a lot to me and will continue my progression as a goalkeeper.

I’ll be giving everything to improve every day so that I can play as many games as possible for this great club.

‘Now I am looking forward to joining up with the England squad and then preparing for the season ahead,” he said.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like Henderson to compete with David de Gea for the number one position but has still to discuss fully what opportunities he can afford to give the young goalkeeper.

Henderson wants to continue his career momentum and play regularly, so question marks remain around spending this coming season competing with de Gea, who is on £360,000 a week, even though they will have the rigours of Champions League football to contend with.

Long-standing deputy Sergio Romero also wants to play more regularly and is open to moving on amid interest from other Premier League sides
