August Alsina has granted yet another interview, where he speaks on the reasons behind is affairs with Will Smith’s wife, which will be his second time of speaking about the now infamous ‘Entanglement’ situation.
Alsina speaking with The People magazine on the affair with Will Smith’s wife, spoke about the backlash he’s received for opening up about his relationship with Jada, and claims amid mounting pressure of rumours about it, and it starting to affect his business affairs. So, he decided to come forward about the relationship.
According to Alsina, another contributing factor was becoming the legal guardian of his three nieces, after both of their parents passed away. August, who calls them his ‘naughters’ is now the guardian of three girls, (Chaylin, 14, Amaiya, 13, Kayden, 11).
“I never really cared about what people thought of me, but my personal life started to seep into my business life,” Alsina told People. com.
He continued, “There were certain falsities about me, and it affected my business relationships.”I could understand why it would look like I’m reckless or disrespectful so it really started to affect my livelihood, and I’m never okay with that. I got three kids to look after.
Kill me, hate me, stone me, but bury me an honest man. All I can do is tell the truth.”
The singer does admit he never meant to start any trouble for the Smith Family.
‘I Could Understand Why It Would Look Like I’m Reckless Or Disrespectful
“I’m always going to be in the driver’s seat of my life and control my narrative,” Alsina says. Adding, “I can’t let anybody else do that for me.”
Interestingly, the singer was questioned about using Jada Pinkett’s explanation of the situation (an entanglement) as a joke to write a song with Rick Ross.
“It was cool when people were able to use it as a mockery of me, like, ‘Oh, you’re an entanglement,'” he told People.
He continued, “When I flipped it, it became a problem for people. Like, ‘Oh, you’re clout-chasing.’ I’m just doing business. It’s not personal.”
Despite the backlash, Alsina doesn’t see his relationship with the Smith’s as completely broken, a family he has ‘deep respect’ for to this day.
“It’s just a part of life, and it’s a part of the journey. There’s a lot of love there. Sometimes the truth is complicated and difficult. But [my relationship with them isn’t] broken at all,” he said.
Jada Pinkett had already admitted she carried on an affair with the younger singer after he and Will were separated. But, claims it was not a cheating type situation. Both Alsina and Smith addressed the situation on ‘Red Table Talk.’
The singer says he is still single. He said:
“Life is still unfolding. I’ve spent a lot of time in a relationship. It’s like the first time you’re back on your own type thing. There’s been a lot of rebuilding within myself, a lot of healing within myself that has had to happen. But I’m very okay’.
