The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arraigned a self-acclaimed social media influencer, Adedamola Rukayat (a.k.a Adeherself) before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offence Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos. She was arraigned on a one-count charge of possession of fraudulent documents.
According to the statement released by the anti-graft agency on Monday 6th July 2020, Adedamola Rukayat was arrested following intelligence received by the Commission on the activities of some young men allegedly involved in internet fraud in the Lekki axis of Lagos State.
Recall that we reported here that Adedamola Rukayat was arrested alongside five others for alleged internet fraud, by the EFCC on Wednesday 17th June 2020.
The anti-graft agency had reported that Adedamola Rukayat who had claimed to be a social media influencer and four other suspects were apprehended in different areas of Lagos during a raid by operatives.
While the self-acclaimed social media influencer, 20, and her accomplice, Lamina Hamzat Ajibola, were arrested at the Agungi area of Lekki, Lagos State, the trio of Israel Onyebuchi, Emmanuel Olayode and Valentine Nwokorie were picked up at the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State.
The arrest of Adewale and Ajibola was a sequel to intelligence linking them to online fraudulent activities with two brothers, Lasisi Wasiu Adeleke and Lasisi Riliwan Adeniyi, who are at large.
They were arrested at a four-bedroom duplex belonging to the two run-away fraudsters.
Intelligence also linked them with alleged flamboyant lifestyles.
While an update has been giving on Adedamola Rukayat, EFCC are yet to give any report on other suspects as at the time of this report.
