Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has approved the relieve of appointment of Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Aliyu Tijani.
A statement by a permanent secretary on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the government house, Alhaji Hamza Gayam directs Alhaji Aliyu to handover to the permanent secretary, cabinet affairs and special services, in his office, with immediate effect.
Alhaji Aliyu was indicted by the state House of Assembly for alleged embezzlement of about N300milion, out of an N1.4billion contract for the renovation and fencing of public secondary schools in the state when he was commissioner for education in the previous administration.
The state House of Assembly ad-hoc committee investigating SSG under Governor Abdullahi Sule, had released the sum of N1 billion for the renovation/fencing of public secondary schools in the state in 2018, had indicted the former SSG.
Following the indictment, the state legislators asked Ahmed-Tijani to refund over N248.5 million as unaccounted funds to the state government.
The house said the former commissioner under governor Abdullahi Sule displayed blatant inefficiency, incompetency and ineffectiveness in the performance of his official duties and urged the governor to relieve him of his appointment.
