NAPTIP: NGO Donates Borehole, Foodstuff To FCT Community, School

To mark the 2020 Children’s Day celebration, a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), the African Scholar Care Initiative (ASCI) on Wednesday 27th May 2020 donated a borehole to the LEA Primary School, Jahi, in the Federal Capital Territory.

The NGO also fed over 1000 children in the community and donated foodstuff to the people in the area.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dame Julie Okah-Donli, who was the Special Guest of honour and commissioner the borehole project, stated that the project will no doubt enhance the sanitary situation and increase the wellness of both the students and the teachers.

The Director-General said that the borehole project will help reduce the incidence of child abuse or other environmental crimes against children as they won’t have to run around in search of water which could put them in a vulnerable situation.

She called on other Organisations, private and cooperate entities to take a cue from the noble gesture of Queen Joy Onumajuru, the founder & CEO of the NGO by supporting and embarking on projects that will help alleviate the suffering of the people.

Also present at the event were Senator Steve Azaika, Senator Philip Aduda, Nigeria Representative of the African Union Dr. Tunji John Asaolu, the Esu of Jahi , Alhaji Adamu Dogo, representatives of the Nigerian Police, and other Stakeholders.
