The Lagos State Police command are showing once more, that Police is truly ‘Your Friend’ as they gave a helping hand to a man whose wife was said to be in labour, but was stranded due to coronavirus lockdown.
The Nigeria Police which has been on the news lately for some not too exciting stories across the country, especially the way some officers have gone about allegedly killing and brutalising those they ought to be protecting during this lockdown, and even before the coronavirus pandemic, can at least be happy about this one good news coming from the Lagos Police command. But there’s more that needs to be done. We shall celebrate them when they do good, and call them out when they do bad, just like this case.
According to the Lagos State Police Command which shared the news on their official Twitter handle on Sunday 19th April 2020, giving full details on how they discovered the man whose wife was in labour and was stranded, said:
“About 3:00 a.m on Friday our officers in Ikoyi came across a man in distress. We accosted him and he told us his wife was in labour at home but he had no means of getting her to the hospital. He got into our vehicle and was rushed down to his home,” the police said.
Stating further, the Lagos State Police Command added:
“Both man and wife were immediately taken to the hospital in Obalende. The officers went back to the couples residence an hour ago and found both mother and child doing well. It’s a girl,” the statement added.
A good job from the Lagos State Police for helping out, as we pray for more of this every day.
