FreeTems is trending on the Nigerian Twitter street, as reports have it that Nigerian singer, Tems, was arrested by Ugandan Police for allegedly violating the country’s COVID-19 rule.

The reports which we cannot substantiate at this time, said Tems whose real name is Temilade Openiyi, was allegedly arrested alongside another Nigerian singer, Omah Lay by Police in Uganda for allegedly violating coronavirus safety measures during a concert on Saturday, according to the Daily Monitor newspaper.

The newspaper quotes a police spokesperson as saying the musician, together with the event organiser and owner of the premise, was held at Katwe Police Station for acts likely to spread coronavirus.

Police are also reportedly looking for Tems, who is reported to be still on the run.

No words yet from the singers, as a few days ago, Tems took to her official Twitter handle to tweet about her concert in Uganda, where she had tweeted this:

“EMS@temsbabyUganda!! It’s me and you tonight,” she tweeted.

She also had a follow-up tweet, in what looks like what she tweeted after the show, saying:
“Uganda! Thank you so much! Rebel gang worldwide!,” she said.

Nigerians and some Ugandans have been demanding for her release by the Ugandan authorities, with #freeTems trend on Twitter. See some of the reactions:
