Governor Ganduje of Kano State has expressed his sadness on the news of the death of former Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Aliyu Umar (SAN).

Governor Ganduje in a statement released on Friday 17th April 2020, condoles with the family of the late Barrister Aliyu Umar and Kano Judiciary where he described the late Attorney General as an Icon, who left indelible mark in the history and practice of judiciary in the country.

“We really missed one of the country’s finest legal practitioners. We are touched severely with the passing away of our own, Barrister Aliyu Umar (SAN) who was two times Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of our dear state,” he stated.

Governor Ganduje said Barrister Umar was an epitome of justice, as well as “…an embodiment of unrivalled and unassuming dispensation of justice, which was manifested in his struggle for the promotion of access to justice and equality before the Law.”

He prayed for Allah’s Mercy and Blessings on the reposed soul of the late Attorney General, while calling on his children to follow his suit for loving and serving humanity, for the overall development of man, as a centre of development.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Kano state, I am sending this condolence message to the families of our beloved Barrister Aliyu Umar SAN, Kano state, Nigerian judiciary and the nation as a whole. As his death leaves a great vacuum in the nation’s judicial system,” says Ganduje.

He finally urges upcoming lawyers to always look up for a role model in the activities of the late highly experienced judicial guru, “…not only the upcoming lawyers, even other senior lawyers have a lot to copy from the late Barrister Aliyu Umar,” he added.
