COVID-19 Violators: Anambra State Set Up Mobile Court

Food markets and shops in Anambra state have reopened a few days after the government declared a total lockdown in the area.

Residents had complained of the earlier directive by the Police Command that new markets had been designated for food markets.

According to the people, some of the locations were far from them while others wondered how they would access the new markets without violating the lockdown order.

This prompted the state government to announce a reversal to the original directive on the food markets.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C Don Adinuba said it was a little policy adjustment because some of the new markets were found to be smaller than expected.

He said the old markets would now open only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays because the government doesn’t want compact markets which will encourage physical contact rather than social distancing.

Eke Awka market, Goodwill, Nkwor Amaenyi have all opened to business as traders troop in to patronise them.
