COVID-19: Lagos State Discharge 5 More Patients On Easter Day

Lagos State Governor, Governor Sanwo-Olu has confirmed that five more patients have been discharged from isolation facilities in the state. The latest development on the fight to contain the spread and end coronavirus in Lagos and Nigeria was announced on Easter Day.

Governor Sanwo-Olu taking to his social media page on Easter Day, Sunday 12th April 2020, briefed Lagosians on the good news from the Isolation facilities, where he said:

Dear Lagosians,
In the spirit of thanksgiving, and as we commemorate the sacrifice of Love and resurrection of Christ this Easter, I bring to you more awesome news from our Isolation facilities.

Today, 5 more patients; 4 females, and 1 male have been discharged to reunite with their families and society.

The patients were discharged having recovered fully and tested negative twice consecutively to COVID-19.

With the newly discharged patients, we now have a total of 55 people that have been successfully managed for COVID-19 at our isolation facilities and discharged to the community.

This news, especially on this important day gives me joy and I am sure it does to you too.

While we look forward to more great news from our effort to contain the pandemic, let’s do the right thing to save humanity. Stay at home, practice Social Distancing, observe the highest possible personal and hand hygiene and report suspicious cases to the appropriate authority.

Let’s continue to make the little sacrifices for the greater good.
Happy Easter,“he said.

The governor said this shortly after sharing some videos of him celebrating some of the Health workers in Lagos on Easter Day.

Sanwo-Olu identifying with the Health workers on Easter day, invited foremost Gospel Artists, Beejay Sax and Laolu Gbenjo to entertained with songs of praise. He captioned the Instagram video with these words:

Today being Easter Sunday, I took some time out to identify with all our health workers, the heroes who deny themselves their personal wellbeing and comfort to attend to the emergency we are grappling with, during this period.

The time spent with them was possible through my instagram live stream with foremost Gospel Artises, Beejay Sax and Laolu Gbenjo who entertained us with songs of praise.

This gesture was necessary to demonstrate our gratitude to the health workers and to also boost their morale. Under normal circumstances, they would be in their homes spending the Easter season with their families, but instead they have responded selflessly to this national emergency. These heroes have endured great pain and discomfort to save us all from the agony of the ravaging COVID19 pandemic and as such, no time spent with them is wasted.

We will continue to carry out activities to support and lift up the spirit of our frontline health workers. They are the heroes of our time and they are deserving of all our attention and time,” he said.
