Popular U,.S rapper, Jonathan Kirt, who is better known as Dababy is being sued by the woman he allegedly slapped inside Tampa nightclub in Florida.
According to the report by Pitchfork, DaBaby is being sued by the woman identified as Tyronesha Laws. She is suing Dabby for battery, negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
DaBaby was set to perform at a Tampa club on March 7 2020, when the incident happened. The video from the said incident went viral where the rapper was shown walking through the club with fans lined up on the sides. A woman is seen with her cell phone flash pointing her phone towards DaBaby.
In the video, DaBaby is seen slapping the said individual in front of him near the person with the flash. He claims he had no idea it was a woman and apologized days after the video surfaced.
Laws narrating her own side of the story, said she was standing in the crowd with other concertgoers waiting for the show to start. She claims DaBaby walked into the crowd and walked up to her. She accuses DaBaby of smacking her in the face which caused her “injuries about her face and head” along with “extreme mental and emotional distress.”
Tyronesha Laws’ attorneys Matt Morgan and Chelsea Cromer said in a statement:
Morgan & Morgan has filed a formal lawsuit against DaBaby relating to the incident in Tampa. The incident was outrageous and shocking.
We have requested a jury trial and look forward to presenting all of the surrounding circumstances to a jury of our client’s peers. Our goal is to deter similar conduct in the future and send a message that this type of behaviour is not tolerated in America.
Dababy has since apologised, where he spoke out on social media saying, “Keep in mind, I couldn’t see you because you had the flash this close to me … it’s no problem.”
