A few hours after she dropped her new music video “Never Worn White” on Thursday, unveiling her huge baby bump to reveal her pregnancy, Katy Perry has taken to her Twitter account to further confirm that she is expecting her first child with Orlando Bloom.
Taking to Twitter shortly after the video was revealed, Katy Perry wrote: “So glad I don’t have to suck it in anymore.
“Or carry around a big purse, lol.”
She added in an Instagram Live: “There’s a lot that’s happening this summer. Not only will I be giving birth, literally, and figuratively… to something you guys have been waiting for. I’m excited, we’re excited, and happy.
It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music.
“While it’s not the lead single, it’s a good way to start out. I had to reveal [the pregnancy] at some point. It’s getting pretty obvious.”.
The baby on the way will be the first for Perry with fiancé Orlando Bloom. The Lord of the Rings actor, 43, is already a father to 9-year-old son Flynn, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
Katy Perry referenced another famous pregnancy announcement in the video, alluding to Beyonce as she posed in flowers.
She seemingly alludes to wanting more children with Orlando Bloom in the future, singing in the romantic ballad: “See us in 60 years with a full family tree.”
Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand in 2010, wearing a dove grey gown.
Alluding to her previous nuptials, Katy Perry added: “The truth is I have never worn white.
“Because the time before this, 10 years ago, I wore dove grey. So let’s just say it’ll be my first time wearing white.”
The singer recently opened up about her engagement to Bloom with Stellar Magazine, explaining that she’s “a bridechilla as opposed to a bridezilla.” The two got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019.
“Orlando and I are united with our approach,” Perry explained. “It’s not about the party, it’s about the coming together of people who will hold us accountable when things get really hard. Those are just the facts when you’re with someone who challenges you to be your best self.”
Following the engagement, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that the two were staying “secretive” about their future “smaller and intimate” wedding.
Chatting with Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, Perry recounted the moment Orlando Bloom proposed.
“I just remember meeting him at dinner at this place, this Italian restaurant, because when I get a pass, I just want to stuff my face with pasta,” she said then.
“So I get there and, I mean, he’s like clean-shaven. He’s not wearing tennis shoes. I’m like, ‘Ah s—, something is going down! We were ordering everything and I was like, ‘Who is this person?!’”
“I got on a helicopter and he asked me to marry him, and then we landed on this building and then went downstairs and my family and friends were there and the most flowers you’ve ever seen.“
