German Bundesliga side, Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the signing of Juventus and ex-Liverpool midfielder, Emre Can on loan with an option to buy.
The announcement which came on transfer deadline day, saw the German international Emre Can opting to join Borussia Dortmund despite interest from some English Premier League sides. But Dortmund will have to cough out £21million for the man who joined Juventus on a free transfer from Liverpool in 2018, to make the deal a permanent one.
Emre Can since joining Juventus from Liverpool, has started only two league games since Maurizio Sarri took charge last season.
“He can be used across multiple systems in defence as well as in central midfield,” said Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc.
“In Emre Can we get a German national player who can be used across multiple systems in defense as well as in central midfield. A player who brings in his technique as well as his technique and has a strong will to win,” Michael Zorc added.
Dortmund finished runners-up in the Bundesliga last season and are currently fourth in the table, four points behind leaders RB Leipzig.
Emre Can who has previously played for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, while speaking on his move after his medical on Friday, had this to say about his move back to Germany:
“I think the team has great potential and can win something. I am convinced that I can help them and can’t wait to play in front of these fans for whom Borussia Dortmund is known all over the world for the first time. “
