Manchester United and French midfielder, Paul Pogba has lent his voice to the fight against racism in football, as he made his teammates wear wristbands with the message that reads: ‘no to racism’ and ‘we are one’.

Paul Pogba who just returned to playing football again after being on the sideline for weeks, played his first game against Watford. He also featured in the game against Newcastle on Thursday at Old Trafford.

Speaking about the fight against racism, after the Red Devil Thrashed Newcastle 4-1, the 26-year-old French man and a father of one, who has also had his share of racial abuse, said:

“I have been thinking about doing this for a long time,”

“It’s to give support to all the players and show that black, white, Chinese or whatever, who you are – there is only one race,” he said.

Paul Pogba who also shared some photos on his Instagram to further speak on the fight against racism, shared a photo of him handing his wristband to a United fan after the warm-up.

Paul Pogba’s statement is coming just a few days after Chelsea’s Rudiger alleged that he was racially abused at Last week, Chelsea’s Premier League victory at Tottenham. It also came after United’s Fred was targeted by a supporter during United’s derby win at Manchester City on 7 December.

“We are hearing things every week,” added Pogba. “We keep seeing it in a lot of stadiums again and again. It is ignorance.

“I don’t want to be a political guy. I don’t want to go through Fifa and [European football’s governing body] Uefa. I have done this myself and I know it will make people talk.

“It is to show we are against racism. When people see it, I think it will make them understand some things. It will show them we are all one,” he said.
