The Nigerian House of Representatives on Wednesday 18th September 2019 summoned the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Chief Allen Onyeama, where he was commended by members for his role in the prompt evacuation of some Nigerians who were the victims of the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa.
Chief Allen Onyeama was accorded a standing ovation by the members of the Green Chamber at the National Assembly in Abuja, as they discussed a National Honour for the Air Peace Boss.
The Speaker, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila speaking at the Lower House on Wednesday, stated that the House will make a case to the Federal Government to confer on Chief Allen Onyema, a national honour for his outstanding and patriotic attitude during the unfortunate incident.
While reacting, Chief Allen Onyeama commended the lawmakers for the honour done him, saying ” you brought tears into my eyes as I have never been honoured in this way in my life “
Onyeama, however, pleaded with the Federal Government to look critically into the plights of those Nigerians who lost their lives and property during the incident.
Following the xenophobic attack on Nigerians in South Africa, Mr Allen Onyeama volunteered to send an aircraft to evacuate Nigerians willing to return free of charge. The move has seen about 187 Nigerians evacuated back to Nigeria, while other willing Nigerians are still waiting to be evacuated back to Nigeria from South Africa in the second batch.
