The Kano Censorship Board has banned Kannywood producers from making films scenes showing the killing of spouses. This directive was issued by the Executive Director of the Board, Mr Afakallah in an announcement released on Wednesday 14th August 2019 in Kano.
According to the statement signed by the Kano State Censorship Board spokesperson Ibrahim Adamu Kofar Na’isa the Board condemned actions of Kannywood filmmakers, accusing them of introducing a dangerous trend in the industry, where they recklessly show scenes of husbands killing their wives and vice versa.
Mr Afakallah who fear that this new trends could impact the society negatively, as some of these scenes could be reenacted in real life by Nigerians, reminded filmmakers that films are meant to showcase excellent moral, cultural, traditional and religious values of the society, according to the statement.
He added that the Kano Censorship Board has completed arrangements to verify all stakeholders in the Kannywood industry.
