The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesome Wike has backed the Federal Government stand on the alleged planned RevolutionNow protest, as he released a statement on Sunday August 4th 2019, calling on the various Security agencies in the Niger-Delta State to arrest anybody involved in the protest which will start on August 5th 2019.
The statement credited to Governor Wike is coming a few hours after President Buhari through his Senior Special Assistant Garba Shehu, and the Department of State Services (DSS) released a separate statement calling on Nigerians to disregard the calls for the RevolutionNow protest on Monday. In his short statement on his social media handle, Wike said:
“Rivers State does not subscribe to what the RevolutionNow protest represents and Rivers State is not part of the protest”. Security agencies in the state should arrest anybody involved in the RevolutionNow protest and also take all necessary steps to prosecute such persons.
Parents should ensure that their children are not misled by agents of the march to participate in the illegal protest. “All council chairmen are directed to be at alert. If they suspect any illegal gathering, they should report to the security agencies for immediate action “.
So far, the Governor of Rivers State is the only one that has condemned the planned protest, aside from the Presidency, but we still do not think it will be a success, given the events of the past, and also the alleged leader of the Revolution is already in the custody of DSS… we are watching though…
