The Governor of Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun who since assuming office has hit the ground running, has yet again identified another important infrastructure in the state that is in urgent need of Government intervention to revamp it’s deplorable state. This time, it is the prestigious Olabisi Onabanjo University Hospital (OOUTH) in Ago-Iwoye that has become a shadow of itself due to abandonment from Government.
The Governor, keeping to the promises during the Governorship campaign, on Friday 19th July 2019, at the Government House Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta the State capital, inaugurated an administrative panel to examine the current situation of things in OOUTH.
The 8-man committee set up by the Governor on the issue of OOUTH, will be chaired by Dr Yemi Onabowale, a general physician and Chairman, Reddington Hospital.
The Governor speaking after the inauguration, said:
“The panel is charged not only to assess the modes of operation and state of facilities in the hospital in line with global best practices, but also to review all third-party agreements, giving appropriate recommendations according to the various levels of compliance of involved parties” he said.
Governor Abiodun also said that all these efforts will ensure that an institution and hospital such as OOUTH that has produced the best medical practitioners and provided world-class medical services is brought back to its enviable status.
“I am glad to announce that the Chairman on behalf of other members, while accepting to serve the people of Ogun State, promised to go on a fact-finding mission that would bring the hospital to what is expected of a world-class hospital it used to be” he said.
