Reality TV Queen and businesswoman, Kim Kardashian has been reported to be taking good advantage of her closeness to the White House and President Donald Trump, to facilitate the release of rapper Rakim Mayers, who is better known as ASAP Rocky from a Swedish jail.
According to a TMZ report, West told Kardashian to reach out to her White House connections over the situation of ASAP Rocky which has generated a lot of condemnation. This reaching out, the report suggested, was met with an agreement that Rocky was being treated unfairly overseas and assistance was needed.
Although neither Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West nor President Donald Trump have come out to confirm this latest development, Congressman Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Congressional Black Caucus members touched on the issue, where he told ABC News that they expect the US Government to do more in his release, but directed his anger towards U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
He said Mike Pompeo and the US government could be doing more for Rocky and the two other men currently locked up in Sweden.
“We are calling on Secretary Pompeo to do more,” Espaillat said
“This is not enough. It is unconscionable that young men that are doing well, they are on the right track in life, they’re very successful, they’re icons in the hip-hop community, are treated under these inhuman conditions.”
Since the arrest, celebrities in America have been putting up posts on their respective social media calling for the release of ASAP Rocky from the Swedish jail. If truly Kim and Kanye are pushing this, it could boost her charity work and efforts at criminal justice system reform…we are watching…
