La Liga Champions Barcelona have announced the signing of Frenchman and FIFA world cup winner, Antoine Griezmann after paying off his €120 million release clause to Atletico Madrid.
According to the deal, Antoine Griezmann and Barcelona agreed to a five-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2024, and his new release clause now puts at €800million.
The drama to sign the Frenchman has dragged on for days, as both Atletico Marid and Barcelona could not come to an agreement as regarding the deal. One of the disagreements was that Barcelona who are also eyeing a possible deal for Neymar, tried to negotiate a deal with Atletico where they will pay the €120m euro fee on installments rather than in one lump sum. Barcelona were also not willing to part ways with Nelson Semedo in the deal, which delayed the move by the Frenchman to swift club.
After this signing, the next transfer for Barcelona who are desperate to land the UEFA Champions League next season, will be Paris Saint Germain star, Neymar jnr.
