Lee Daniels who is the co-creator of the popular FOX TV series on Wednesday morning while reacting to a tweet puts out by Variety magazine on the possible return of Jussie Smollett, said it is not true that the actor was returning, as Season six and final season is set to be released.
Variety magazine in their tweet had said:
‘Empire’ Writers Prepping for Jussie Smollett’s Return in Season 6″
Lee Daniels replied emphatically, saying:
After the incident in Chicago where Jussie Smollett alleged that he was a victim of racial and homophobic attack, which turns out to be a hoax as the Chicago Police Department later found out from their investigation, the FOX drama series has taken a hit on the alleged rumour that the actor despite the public outcry against his return, will be featured in the final season of the series.
According to Variety magazine, FOX entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television declined to comment when reached about whether or not the actor will be returning.
The report also said that multiple “Empire” cast members penned a letter back in April that was sent to multiple Fox executives and series executive producers.
“Together, as a united front, we stand with Jussie Smollett and ask that our co-star, brother and friend be brought back for our sixth season of ‘Empire,’” the letter read. It was signed by “Empire” stars Taraji P. Henson, Terrence Howard, Bryshere Y. Gray, Trai Byers, Gabourey Sidibe, and Nicole Ari Parker.
When the sixth season renewal was announced in April, Fox Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television said that they had extended Smollett’s option for Season 6 but that there were no plans for him to return. Two weeks later, Fox announced that the sixth season would be the show’s last. Prior to the events of this year, Smollett was a key cast member on “Empire.” His character, Jamal Lyon, is loosely based on Daniels. Variety magazine had reported.
The case against Jussie Smollett is still on going at the Chicago Police Department, who are still trying to seek justice against the actor whose case was dismissed. But with this latest news by Lee Daniels, he and other Empire crew could be directly telling the world that Smollett could be guilty as rightly, as was the argument put forward by the Chicago Police Department in court.
…we are waiting for what happen next, as the judge Foxx who dismissed his case has already left the case, as she is also being investigated over a text message between her and a family member of Smollett over the case.
