Ugandan Pop star turned politician and Kyandodo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi known better as Bobi Wine has been granted bail after three days in a maximum prison.
The Buganda road court grade one magistrate Esta Nahirya granted bail to Bobi Wine, after his video conference trial, where he was charged with disobeying statutory authority. He also faces trial over staging a street protest in July against a tax on social media.
Bobi Wine was arrested on Tuesday after he had been summoned to the CID headquarters to record a statement on allegations of inciting violence. He was however arrested and charged with disobedience of statutory duty.
He was then remanded to Luzira prison.
Bobi Wine was granted a one million cash bail his sureties bonded 10mshs not cash.
The magistrate also warned Bobi Wine not to participate in unlawful demonstrations adding that his bail would be cancelled if he did.
The prosecution was also ordered to disclose its evidence to his Lawyers before the next trial date.
The musician turned legislator will return to court on 23rd/May for trial.
He is one of those looking to challenge longtime President, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for the seat of the Presidency come 2021 in the East African country
