Liverpool are definitely looking to making it a back-to-back final, as they power past Portuguese club, Porto at Anfield, beating them 2-0 as they head to Portugal for the second leg Champions League Quarter final.
The Tuesday night game for Liverpool was not all that comfortable, even though some pundits and fans might want to think otherwise. There were some calls which both the VAR and the Referee missed, and these calls should have been in favour of Porto. The calls should concern Liverpool going into the second leg, as although they have two goals advantage, the game is far from over as alot of work needs to be done defensively.
Liverpool went ahead early in the game, through a Naby Keita deflected goal, before Brazilian Roberto Firmino made it two with less than half an hour played and, crucially, they went on to avoid conceding, placing them in a strong position ahead of their trip to Portugal.
Liverpool and most especially Salah missed alot of chances that would have ended the tie, but in all, Liverpool fans should be happy, as all they need now is just a goal and defend very well to advance to the next stage.
We must also warn that Porto so far in this Champions League are deadly playing at home, and with Liverpool’s bad record playing away (with the exception of the Bayern Munich game) they could struggle.
Klopp also has a big decision to make, as he faces Chelsea in the League on Sunday before travelling to Porto for the Wednesday game…Big Big call for Klopp, as we wait to see if he is going to rest players for the Porto game, or wave the league for the Champions League..also, Chelsea seems to have picked up their form…I cannot wait for these games, even that of Manchester City…
