Football without a doubt, is one of those sporting activities that occupies the number one spot in the heart of many Nigerians, and one that also unites, so it was not a surprise to see the good people of Okene in Kogi State taking to the street to celebrate one of the top football clubs in the world, Arsenal.

Arsenal controls a majority of the football fan base in Nigeria and also in the world, and if you have ever doubted that, the people of Okene celebrating Arsenal Day in their numbers, is sure an enough prove to wipe out those doubts.

As usual, I was searching through the social media when I came across the post, and decided to share and join them in the celebration as a football fan….but I will definitely not be caught putting on the Arsenal Jersey though…lol…no shade, just fan loyalty…

The post was captioned with these words, to show that they have been doing this for over 12-years. The post reads:

“There is nowhere in Nigeria where ARSENAL DAY is celebrated much like they do in Okene, Kogi State. This has been happening annually in Okene for the past 12 years. The 2018 Arsenal Day was even bigger & better with local & international sports lovers present.”
