Police  arrest Kano State Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna

The Kano State Police command have arrested the Deputy Governor of the State, Mr Nasir Gawuna and the commissioner on Local Government, Sule Garo, for attempting to disrupt the electoral process.

The Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna and Sule were arrested some in the early hours of  Monday morning at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation centre in Kano where they tried to disrupt the process of announcement of results that’s show PDP in clear lead.

The action of the Deputy Governor Nasir Gawuna and his boys led to a halt in the announcement of results at the centre after some youth suspected to be supporters of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) tried to attack the two officials.

The police are expected to later release Mr Gawuna without charges as he enjoys constitutional immunity from prosecution based on the office he holds.

PDP candidate, Abba Yusuf, was leading the incumbent Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as INEC announce results:

While the PDP candidate has so far scored 960,004, Mr Ganduje of the APC has 953,522 votes.
