President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled the death of two Nigerians, Ambassador Abiodun Bashua and Professor Pius Adesanmi who were Passengers in the ill-fated Ethiopian Airlines that killed all 149 passengers and crew members on board on Sunday morning.
President Buhari who had earlier expressed shock and sadness on the news of the ill-fated flight, a few hours ago released another statement through his Personal Assistant, Mr Bashir Ahmad, mourning the deaths of Ambassador Bashua and Professor Pius Adesanmi.
In the short statement, President Muhammadu Buhari said:
“My thoughts are with the families and friends of these distinguished Nigerians & the other passengers and crew who lost their lives in the plane crash in Addis Ababa. May the Almighty Allah give them strength & fortitude to bear the loss.” he said.
The death of Ambassador Bashua which was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bashua before his death, he was a retired Nigerian Foreign Service Officer who worked for UNAMID and the @UN Office to the @_AfricanUnion.
In January 2019, he was nominated Interim Chair of the Nigerian Community in Ethiopia.
Professor Pius Adesanmi was a Nigeria-born Canadian, who was also an author, and lecture in Canada.
