The Governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Jimi Agbaje has reportedly called his opponent and winner of Saturday’s Governorship election, Mr Jide Sanwo Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to congratulate him on his victory.
Mr Jide Sanwo Olu who broke this news a few hours ago on his social media page, said:
“I received with all sense of appreciation and humility, the symbolic congratulatory call Mr. Jimi Agbaje just made to me on my victory in the just concluded Governorship election in Lagos State.
This demonstration of sportsmanship is highly commendable, and an indication of the politics of love and brotherhood that drives development in Lagos State.” he said.
As at the time of this report, Mr Jide Sanwo Olu of the APC is leading the candidate of the PDP in Lagos State, Mr Jimi Agbaje with a wide margin.
The results in 15 local governments declared by INEC, Jide Sanwo-Olu has amassed an unassailable lead of over 300,000 votes.
He beat Agbaje by wide margins in all the councils: Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Epe, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Amuwo-Odofin, Ibeju-Lekki, Agege, Apapa, Somolu, Eti-Osa, Oshodi-Isolo, Mushin and Kosofe, Surulere.
The remaining four local governments are Badagry, Alimosho, Ifako-Ijaye and Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
