American RnB singer, R Kelly has been slammed with a $1million bond bail by a Judge in Illinois Chicago for his aggravated sexual assault charges.
Judge John Fitzgerald Lyke Jr in his ruling, ruled that R Kelly would have to pay about $250,000 of the D-bond before he can regain his freedom, pending when his trial commenced.
According to Steve Greenberg who is the Attorney to R Kelly, told reporters the singer did not have such an amount sitting in the bank, in a box, anywhere” due to what he said were “bad deals, bad people” but insist the singer can get up to $100,000 and hopefully he regains his freedom afterwards.
TMZ also reported that prosecutors at the Court hearing, laid out the details of R. Kelly’s 4 separate indictments on Saturday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building in Cook County, and requested the R&B singer not be granted bail, but the judge disagreed and set bail for each indictment.
The judge also ordered Kelly to surrender his passport. This request he was willing to do, as his Attorney suggests that the singer hates flying, and surrendering his passport will not be a problem.
R. Kelly surrendered to police in Chicago Friday night, turning himself in at a police station after being slammed with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on Friday morning, as 9 of the 10-counts involve alleged victims ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old. One of them is the subject of 4 different counts. There are a total of 4 alleged victims.
