Cristiano Ronaldo is close to signing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia as the striker is in Dubai and ready to fly to the country, Spanish paper Marca reports.

According to the report by Marca, Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a £175m-a-year deal with the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr before the end of the year.

The World Cup disappointment with Portugal is now behind him and he has finished training at Valdebebas.

The 37-year-old’s contract at Manchester United was terminated earlier this month after he slated the club in a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

In Riyadh, they are waiting for him to sign the agreement and thus become a player of Al Nassr until June 2025.

Talks began at the same time as his departure from Manchester United and the World Cup provided a logical break for talks to take place in.

The move is expected to take place in 2022 and Al Nassr have recently regained the leadership of the Saudi championship under Rudi Garcia and with the Spaniard Alvaro Gonzalez in the squad, Marca reports added.

Marca also reported that the offer is for two and a half seasons with a payment per season of around 200 million euros between salary and advertising agreements.

In Saudi Arabia, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo is considered a state signing, an operation that would put the country on the world football map, with the aspiration of hosting the 2030 World Cup on the horizon.

The project they have embarked on is ambitious and involves getting more prominent in the world of sport, as they already have in football with the Spanish Super Cup, and then Formula 1, golf, horse racing at the highest level.

Cristiano is taking advantage of Christmas to spend a few days off in Dubai. The World Cup has been a very hard blow for the Portuguese and he is finding it hard to digest it, especially with the triumph of Argentina and his great rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo joining Al Nassr would be monumental for the club and the country as a whole given they are looking to become a major sporting nation.

Saudi Arabia’s Sports Minister previously claimed he would ‘love’ to see Ronaldo play in the nation’s domestic football league.

No statement has been released by both player and club, as at the time of this report.
