French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) recorded an emphatic victory away to Manchester United at Old Trafford, in one of the opening games of the UEFA champions league round of 16, that ended a few minutes ago.
The initial fear of whether or not PSG can cope with the counter-attacking pace of Manchester United, who were without their key players such as Neymar Jnr and forward Cavani, quickly disappeared, as PSG showed class, showing no sign of team with injury crisis as the game progressed at Old Trafford.
Manchester United playing with Martial, Rasford and Lingard up front, which seems to have become Ole’s preferred formation since taking over, showed some glimpse of threats at kickoff, but ran out of ideas later in the game, as the possession style of play of the PSG team was just too good for them to cope with.
The likes of Lingard and Martial leaving the game with injuries while key man, Paul Pogba having himself sent off after receiving his second booking for a reckless challenge, meant that United were left with nothing upfront, as Sanchez and Lukaku did little or nothing coming into the game.
Manchester United facing their toughest challenge since the Spurs game, had no answer or what so ever to the fine display of the PSG team, as they could not take control of the game playing at home.
The game ended 0-2 in favour of the French side, with the goals coming from Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe to give them a well deserved victory away from home…reactions from managers to follow shortly…
