The R Kelly saga seems not to be ending any time soon, as more celebrities are voicing out their views on the subject, and the latest to be doing just that is no other than legendary rapper, and good friend of R Kelly, Da Brat who said she will not take down songs by the singer, as she questioned the role played by parents of the accusers.
Da Brat said she will not be joining others to mute R Kelly, who has faced serious criticism since the release of the “surviving R Kelly” documentary detailing how he abused young girls.
Unlike other celebrities who have come so hard on R Kelly even when he is yet to be charged to court and proven guilty of all the allegations, Da Brat has taken a different position, as not just condemning the alleged perpetrator, but also the role played by the alleged victims, most importantly, their parents and guardians at the time.
According to TMZ report, the legendary femcee, Da Brat on Saturday at the Trumpet Awards in Atlanta, where she was asked about R. Kelly — whom she says she’s close with and has shared history, R. Kelly and herself went to the same Chicago high school, and he even wrote her 1st demo record.
TMZ said Da Brat tried to walk a tight rope here at first, by saying that she doe not believe the women in “Surviving R. Kelly” are lying — and acknowledging R. Kelly probably does need to get help — but she eventually makes it clear where her allegiance lies … it’s with him.
Then she drops a bomb — asking point blank, “Where are the parents?” She says the parents of the young women who are allegedly being held captive by R. Kelly need to take responsibility and get a grip on where their children are at, and who they hang out with.
Regarding his music, she says she’s not deleting one R. Kelly song from her playlist.
