President Muhammadu Buhari is presently in Sokoto State on a condolence visit to the State Government and family of former President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari.

President Buhari who departed Abuja a few hours ago, is already in Sokoto State, as he Mourns the death of former President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari who died after a brief illness at the National Hospital, Abuja.

Alhaji Shehu Shagari whose body was as laid to rest on Saturday, saw Mr Boss Mustapha, secretary of the Government of the Federation leading the Federal Government delegation to the burial of the late President.

Former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari, 93, was laid to rest in his hometown, Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto state at about 3.30 pm.

The funeral prayer was led by Professor Shehu Galadanchi, former Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Dan Fodiyo University Sokoto.

President Muhammadu Buhari who before his visit released a statement expressing his sadness and that of the first family on the death of the former President, has signed the condolence register, while ordering the flag to fly at half mast. See more photos:
