President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his deep sadness over the death of Ex-President Shehu Shagari who died on Friday at the age of 93 in Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari who a few hours ago released a statement on his Twitter handle, described Ex-President Shehu Shagari as a man who served his country Nigeria with humility, integrity and diligence until his demise, and his wise counsels will forever be missed.
President Buhari sent in his condolences to the families of Ex-President Shehu Shagari on behalf of the First family, saying:
On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Nigeria, it is with immense sadness that I received the news of the passing away of the first Executive President of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari.
I mourn the departure of a patriot, who served Nigeria with humility, integrity and diligence. Nigerians held him in the highest esteem even when he was out of office, until his demise, and will forever miss his wise counsels.
I pray that Almighty God will comfort his family and all who mourn him, and grant his soul eternal rest.
