The game between Chelsea and Manchester United ended in a draw, as Ross Barkley’s late goal salvages a point for Chelsea in a dramatic finish at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, as usual, controlled the game from the kickoff, and as expected, Manchester United’s manager, Jose Mourinho planted his men on both Eden Hazard and Jorginho, which somehow disturbed the flow and passing for Chelsea, but Sarri side managed to have full possession.
It was a good game in the first half, and it all changed in the second as Manchester United became more physical, and adopted the long ball approach, which later got them two good goals from Martial, as Chelsea back line and midfielders struggled with the long ball and physical play from United. They were pushed to the wall, and they responded in such a difficult time, with Ross Barkley netting home the equalizer for the home team.
Chelsea had 62% of possession with Manchester United having just 38.
The result means Chelsea remain unbeaten and top of the Premier League table while awaiting results from other teams.
After the game, which saw a little drama in the need, Chelsea Manager, blamed the International break for their performance, saying:
“It’s very difficult to play the match after the international break because the players go to play in another team, another football, another target then they come back and it’s not easy.
“At the end of the match it was very good, a fantastic match, in the first half in the tactical part we did very well but in the second half, we played their match, the physical match which is not for us.
On the little drama with Jose Mourinho on the touchline, he said Chelsea were in the wrong, and although he is yet to see the video to know what actually happened, he has already apologized to Mourinho. He said:
“Sincerely I have not seen {what happened] but I have spoken with Jose [Mourinho] then I have spoken with a member of staff because I think we were on the wrong side so I have dealt with it immediately.
“If I speak to a member of staff and am very hard [with him] I cannot come here and tell everything because then I am not credible with the staff.”
Mourinho on his part whose team major objective was to stop the opposition from playing, disputed the statistics from the game, saying his team played better football than Chelsea. He said:
“The best team on the pitch. If you say before the match, 1 point at Stamford Bridge is a good result, but after the game, the way the game was, it’s an awful result for us and phenomenal for them.
